In the south of Velsen is a little 16th century, monument listed house
for rent, 24 km. from Amsterdam. Also reacheble by hydrofoile boat.
This house is suitable for a maximum of 2 persons.It has a very cosy, "laura
Ashley" atmosphere with wooden floors, partly antique furniture and little
striped curtains and windows. Overlooking the North Sea canal and watching
the big vessels and sailing boats on their way to the harbour of
IJmuiden and its beach. Between the house and the canal is only a lawn.
Behind the house is a little private garden. The kitchen has all the modern domestic appliances needed these days, but everything fits in the atmosphere of the house. The
modern bathroom is not big, but made of white marble and has a bath. A little
winecellar is accessable via the diningroom. On the first floor are 2
bedrooms. The house is located between a lot of other little golden
century houses, the canal and the greenery around, makes you feel like living in
a fairy-tale.
